Well, we are a blended family of 8 (I know, very clever of us on our business name right). We are newlyweds; just married in April 2018. Together we have 4 girls and 2 boys ranging in age from 7 to 16. One of my favorite things about being a big family is the look on people’s faces when we walk into a restaurant. It’s a mix of horror (believe me, we are loud) and amazement. Sometimes, you can even see people counting us and then you can see the thought processes crossing their faces. It’s the same one you probably had when you looked at our picture or started reading this post!
I like to run a tight ship—at least, it certainly looks that way on my Google Calendar—and this is because all of our kids are involved in sports. Yep, all of ‘em. Four of them are on competitive teams, so Brian and I often say that we are paying for college a little at a time right now. SEC here we come (fingers crossed)! All of our kids are very competitive and driven, and they all have lots of big dreams.
Leap of Faith:
We started this business because I love creating beautiful spaces. I love Pinterest, and I have no shame in that. As a matter of fact, I promised my husband that I would turn our home into a Pinterest showroom during our wedding vows. No, I’m not kidding! I started making our house into our home. It is still a long way from our “dream,” but it is still ours, and I wanted to make it a space we were all proud. The priority is to make it a space that keeps our children feeling comfortable and loved and safe.
Brian saw my passion for this, and he encouraged me to take this leap, putting my projects out here for all the world to see. He is actually so much better at showing off my work than I am. His support for me and his belief in me are what really gave me the courage to really do this in a concrete way.
I have no idea what this blog will turn into or what this business will become. What I do know is that not trying was never an option. So, I hope you enjoy your visit to Beautifully Blended Eight. Stay tuned…we are always an adventure!
Also, just to be clear I am not an expert, nor am I a trained professional, I am not certified in anything. I am just a normal girl who is a mom and became a wife to a great man who came with his own amazing kids.
