This is a completely different kind of post for me. Most of my posts so far have been about being a step-mama and all the things that go along with that. However, I am also a biological mama of two kids. So helping them navigate through this blended family world is part of my life as well, and today I am going to write about some of those challenges.
What I would say to my step-daughters mother.
1. I am not a threat
2. I am sorry for what went wrong in your marriage to my husband
3. We are on the same team
4. We started this whole process wrong
I start my day with coffee…err honestly it’s a whole lotta creamer with a little bit of coffee. I end my day with a glass (or 3) of wine.
Being two kinds of Moms
1. It’s freaking hard
2. Know your place
3. Don’t force the relationship
4. Communicate with the others
When we met, we took our “blending” very seriously and carefully. We dated for almost 6 months before we introduced kids and felt the gravity of the six little hearts we were protecting. I do have to say, we both take a lot of pride in the fact that out of all the people we dated we never introduced the kids to any one else.
